Timelessness

Oh the beautiful pain of a heartbreak long gone, the signs of an old flame now cold to the touch. The familiar sadness now a resting place for a love long forgotten by you but not by time and less by me. This melancholy sanctuary of sentiment, timeless and still, forever bearing the impression of our hearts and words. The rocking of the waves of heartache now an ancient memory leaving no trace save for the emptiness of loss. Your feet having left their tracks, hollow and untouched, never to be matched with their creator again lie alongside mine which I retrace in tender remembrance. I nurture this place in memory of what could have been for I bear you no ill will and will forever love you. The red stains of my blood about the air tinge everything a light crimson, a reminder of our separation. I now recognize this as the seal to our fates much like the signature of an artist marks the end of a masterpiece. I sit in the soft glow that filters in from the outside, your warm light left behind as my new sun has thawed the corners of my mind. I will forever thank you for reanimating the machinery of my heart and for providing me a bittersweet place where my mind may wander and pretend, even for a moment, that you still exist.
